ANGELA

SOON TO GRADUATE FROM THE MARGATE SCHOOL
CERAMICS
As part of her MA at The Margate School, Angela has been encouraged to investigate three key themes; art, society, and nature. Working from her studio in Westgate and building on her expertise with clay and construction, ceramics have played a large part in her finished pieces - as a material from the earth it seemed ideal as a starting point. Angela’s work has explored ways in which people can be memorialised through art, which would prove cathartic and relevant for the events of 2020. Photographed here is an early piece created in dedication to a dear friend Anne who had recently passed away.

INSPIRATION
Angela felt particularly inspired by her visit to an exhibition of artifacts recovered from Tutankhamun’s Tomb in March 2020. The exhibition titled ‘Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh’ at the Saatchi Gallery was the catalyst for her to begin hand-building a series of ‘memory jugs’ in earthenware clay.
FINAL PIECE
As part of her final show with TMS, Angela’s final piece ‘Coat of Tiers’ will be on full display in the front window of the old Woolworths building for all to see from July 2nd 2021. Here is the initial sketch, and the final garment is beautiful! Photos to follow soon!!
